People’s Law School BC has launched a new website, Unbundlinglaw.ca for the public. This site explains “unbundling–an alternative way of working with a lawyer, offered by some lawyers in British Columbia. Currently in BC there are around 125 family law lawyers who offer this form of “pay as you go” service for clients. There are also other lawyers (numbers unknown) who offer unbundled legal services in other areas of law.
Unbundlinglaw.ca explains the concept, offers an interactive “self-evaluation” for the user to assess whether unbundling is a good fit for them, provides links to the Family Law Unbundling Roster and its lawyers and provides tips for working with a lawyer who provides these services.
PLS worked with Access to Justice BC’s Unbundling Working Group on this project. Funded by the Law Foundation of British Columbia.
