Migrant Workers Centre BC Society
This project will increase access to justice for vulnerable newcomer communities in mainland British Columbia through legal advice, public legal education, community capacity building, and agency collaboration on workplace sexual harassment. The recipient’s staff will work out of its own offices and those of the Immigrant Services Society of BC (ISS of BC) in Vancouver, Surrey, Richmond, Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, and Langley to provide legal advice, alongside their existing legal advocacy services and the settlement and employment support provided by ISS to individuals who have experienced workplace sexual harassment. Additionally, MWC will develop and produce plain language educational materials on: indicators of workplace sexual harassment; applicable laws in British Columbia; steps to assist a person who has experienced workplace sexual harassment; and, where to access legal advice and other supports.
