What does it mean to be a male ally? How can male allyship and SHW prevention support each other?
In 2022, SASC’s #RaiseTheBar Program and Male Allies Training worked together to develop an offering to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace. Using highly engaging activities from our Male Allies Training workshops, our Male Allyship in the Workplace workshop helps men learn how to be more engaged in allyship and helps folks of other genders learn how to identify and support male allyship in their communities. This workshop will run through the pedagogical approach used in Male Allyship in the Workplace.
Learning Objectives:
- Attain an understanding of how sexual violence prevention programming can intentionally call men to action
- Learn engaging activities and strategies to use when presenting to male-dominated audiences about gender-based and sexual violence
- Find out how connecting gender stereotypes to personal experiences can be a powerful learning tool when engaging male-dominated audiences

Speaker Bio
Mitchell Mervyn (they/them) is a Workplace Equity Educator and has a career background that includes both insurance and working with domestic violence offenders. Mitchell is passionate about identifying community needs and working together to alleviate harm. They graduated from the University of Waterloo with distinction in Honours Psychology, and they enjoy challenging systemic norms. They love animals and reading in their spare time.
Landon Kenney (he/him) is a Male Allies Educator and is a kind, conscientious, and highly knowledgeable facilitator who regularly teaches men and boys about gender-based and sexual violence prevention. He has degrees in mathematics and teaching, which are reflected in his commitment to critical analysis and empathetic connections. In his spare time, Landon enjoys reading as well as spending time with his loved ones.
